Bienville Parish man who evaded sentencing for 3 decades denied new trial
HOMER, La. — A Ringgold man convicted of felony crimes in 1991 has been denied a new trial after evading the law and sentencing for 32 years. Greg Max Lawson, 64, was shuffled into the Claiborne Parish courtroom Monday in handcuffs, shackles and a striped jail jumpsuit. While waiting to get onto the courthouse elevator, Lawson told KTBS, “I’ve seen better days.”
McConnell Taken in Day Two of 2024 MLB Draft
RUSTON, La. - Louisiana Tech outfielder Cole McConnell was selected by the Chicago White Sox as the 289th pick on day two of the 2024 MLB draft. McConnell is currently the sixth consecutive Tech player to be drafted in the first ten rounds of the MLB Draft dating back to 2021. The Texas native joins Landon Tompkins (Pittsburgh Pirates, 287th) and Cade Gibson (Miami Marlins, 292nd) as the last three Tech players to be taken in the tenth round. For the first time in program history, Tech has had four consecutive years of a player being drafted in the first ten rounds of the MLB Draft.

Bossier man convicted of raping one child, behaving indecently with another
BENTON, La. (KSLA) — A Bossier City man faces a mandatory life sentence after being convicted of raping a child over a period of several years. A Bossier District Court jury unanimously found 52-year-old Cristian Jose Vargas Borbon guilty of first-degree rape and indecent behavior with a juvenile under the age of 13.
Shreveport man wanted for domestic abuse
SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — Shreveport police are looking for a man wanted in a domestic violence incident. According to the Shreveport Police Department, officers responded to a report of a violent domestic incident in the 4300 block of Illinois Street. Police say they spoke with the victim, who reported that her live-in boyfriend and the father of her children, Phillip Crutchfield, had battered her. The victim is seven months pregnant.

Texarkana woman arrested for impersonation of federal investigator
TEXARKANA, Texas – A Texarkana woman was arrested on Monday by the Texas Department of Public Safety on a charge of impersonating a private investigator. Bessie Williams allegedly accessed a student’s high school records in May by posing as a federal investigator and telling administrators the student’s mother hired her following an altercation at the school.
