Single Family Construction Permits Plummet in June, Down 52.9%
According to filings with Leon County and the City of Tallahassee, the number of single-family new construction permits was down 52.9% in June 2024 when compared to June 2023. There were 32 permits issued in June 2024, down up from the 68 issued one year ago. There were 66 permits issued in May 2024.

One person dead in late-night shooting in East Albany
ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - The Albany Police Department (APD) is investigating a homicide that happened late Wednesday night in the 1200 block of Swift Avenue. Tavis Bemond Griffin, 29, was found with multiple gunshot wounds around 11:30 p.m., according to Dougherty County Coroner Michael Fowler.
