    Get the Full Recipe: How to Make Lemon Poppyseed Scones

    Ingredients:

    • 2 cup flours
    • ¼ cup white granulated sugar
    • ⅛ cup brown sugar
    • 1 teaspoon baking powder
    • 1 teaspoon baking soda
    • ½ teaspoon salt
    • ½ cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
    • 2 tablespoons poppy seeds
    • ¼ cup lemon juice
    • ¼ cup milk
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

    Topping before oven:

    • Extra Tablespoon of butter, melted
    • Extra white sugar

    Frosting:

    • Lemon glaze

    Equipment:

    • 9x11 Baking Sheet
    • Parchment Paper

    Prep Time: 20-25 minutes | Bake Time: 10-12 minutes

    Yield: 6 Scones

    Step by Step Guide on How to Make a Scone

    1. Prep a baking sheet with parchment paper. Then, Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
    2. Add the flour, brown sugar, white sugar, baking soda, and baking powder in a medium-sized mixing bowl. Whisk until the dry ingredients are combined.Add in the cubed butter and use clean hands to squeeze the butter and dry ingredients together to create a crumbly mixture.
    3. Mix in the poppy seeds.
    4. Add in the egg, lemon juice, milk, and vanilla extract, and mix together until a dough forms.
    5. On a clean, flat surface, transfer the dough to it and form a round of the dough to about a 10x10 inch disc. Cut the dough into six equal pieces. If the dough seems a bit sticky before cutting, add about a ¼-½ cup more of more flour to the dough.
    6. Transfer these six pieces to the prepared parchment covered baking sheet.
    7. Take the tablespoon of butter thats melted and brush each scone with it and sprinkle some white sugar on top.
    8. Place in the preheated oven and bake for 10-12 minutes or until the tops of the scones are slightly browned.
    9. Top the scones with a lemon glaze of your choice and finish with lemon zest for garnish.
