The Carson City Sheriff's Office is asking for your help identifying a man involved in a vehicle burglary and credit card fraud investigation. On Sunday, June 30, a man allegedly stole a vehicle on Pratt Street in Carson City. He then used the victim's credit cards at a convenience store on Rand Avenue.

On the night of Oct. 8, 2023, David Matheson Thomas, 60, of Colfax, California, attempted to flee from a hit-and-run accident in Park City, Utah, according to court documents. A Summit County sheriff’s deputy noticed the truck and attempted a traffic stop, but Thomas fled and rammed multiple police cars while trying to escape.
Maddalena Named 49er Festival Grand Marshal Ahead Of Olympics
Groveland, CA — Groveland native Sagen Maddalena will compete in three shooting competitions at the Summer Olympic Games in Paris. The opening ceremony kicks things off this evening and the first shooting competitions commence on Saturday. Maddalena, 30, is a sergeant in the US Army Marksmanship Unit. The daughter of Randy and Susan Maddalena, she first became interested in shooting through the local 4-H program. Later she went on to compete with one of the top rifle collegiate programs in the country at the University of Alaska, Fairbanks.
Sharmell Mitchell, whose brother was killed by Vallejo police, dies fleeing gunfire
Sharmell Mitchell, the oldest sister of Willie McCoy, died last week as the result of a collision that occurred as she fled a shooting in central Vallejo. Officers responded to the intersection of Tennessee Street and Vervais Avenue at about 12:36 p.m. last Tuesday following reported gunshots, police said. When officers arrived, they found a three-vehicle crash involving a Mercedes-Benz ML350, an Isuzu Trooper, and a Kia Soul.

Maidu's offense runs dry in 6-1 loss to Lafayette
Maidu’s run for a state championship came two games short, as the All-Star team made up of 10-and-11-year olds lost to Lafayette, 6-1, on Thursday night in Chico. Playing their sixth game in six days, Maidu had to have been a bit fatigued, not to mention much deeper into their pitching pool, while Lafayette was playing only their fourth game of the tournament having no games on Monday and Wednesday.
