Chief: Runaway cow returned to owner after escaping capture from police
PICKENS, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - The Pickens Police Department said a runaway cow was recaptured after a lengthy pursuit Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. Chief Randall Beach said the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office initially got a call around midnight saying the cow was last seen on Doodle Trail before it went into the city around 1 a.m.
Texting 911 Now an Option on Campus at Clemson University
Clemson University has introduced a new option to text 9-1-1 for emergencies on the main campus. To use this service, open a new text message, enter 911 in the contact field, type the details of the emergency, and press send. A dispatcher will respond via text shortly. While calling 9-1-1 remains the first and best option, this texting service is recommended for situations where calling is not possible, particularly benefiting individuals with disabilities or in circumstances where speaking is difficult. This follows Pickens County’s recent introduction of a similar emergency response option.
