HONOLULU (KHON2) — Flying out of Honolulu? You might want to get to the airport earlier than expected.

On Monday, the Hawaii Department of Transportation announced on its social media that screening delays could impact travelers departing from Terminal 1 at the Daniel K. Inouye International Airport.

Officials advised travelers to get to the airport at least two hours early for interisland flights and at least three hours early for transpacific flights.

TSA continues to screen checked baggage at HNL using alternate screening methods prior to the checked luggage being transported on a commercial aircraft. TSA reminds all passengers to arrive at the airport early, especially if departing HNL during peak times. The busiest times for TSA screening at HNL are generally 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
