Voter Service Centers now officially open

HONOLULU (KHON2) — Hawaii’s primary election is less than two weeks away. To help voters, Voter Service Centers have officially opened on Monday.

Voters needing to register, update their personal information or vote can now do so in person. As of last week, over 470,000 ballot packets were mailed out to Oahu voters, according to Honolulu City Clerk, Glen Takahashi.

“Voters should already have received it by this point in time if they have not, they are welcome to call our office and request a replacement ballot,” stated Takahashi.

Ballot boxes can be found in various locations across the state, here. As of now, 51,000 people have already cast their votes for the primary election just on Oahu, per Takahashi.

“Our highest primary election was 277,000 persons. It can drop down to 150,000 persons. So, we don’t know where it will be at the end of this period, but we hope as many show up as possible,” said Takahashi.

The final day of voting will be Saturday, August 10 by 7 p.m.

“We don’t recommend that people come on the last day because of the lines,” stated Takahashi. “If you happen to show up on the last day prepared to be with us for a while, the wait could be upwards of an hour, maybe two hours.”
