Student Spotlight – SEHS Cross Country’s Tristen Jones Competes in the AHSAA All Star Weekend
Stanhope Elmore High School Senior Tristen Jones is coming off a historic junior season running cross country for the Mustangs. As a junior, Jones set several school records. Jones finished in 1st place at the Fear the Flame Race in Opelika. He also finished in 1st place in the sectionals for Class 6A Section 2 at Auburn High School. In the race, Jones’ twin brother, Dominic, finished 2nd place just two-tenths of a second behind.
Two injured, one killed in Saturday morning Montgomery shooting
Montgomery police are investigating a fatal early Saturday morning shooting. At 12:46 a.m., police and fire medics went to the 2600 block of Jan Drive on a report of a person shot, said Maj. Two area animal shelters stop adoptions amid dog flu outbreak
The Montgomery Humane Society has closed its dog adoptions after an outbreak of dog influenza infected the canines. The illness has spread to all adoptable dogs and some puppies, said Lea Turbert, the humane society's marketing manager. The Humane Society of Elmore County is also impacted by the outbreak. Jamarrion Gordon, a three-star defensive back in the 2026 class, flipped his commitment Friday afternoon from Alabama to Central Florida.
