Fire and Rescue Calls: Fire responses near Philomath and around the state keep firefighters busy
Editor’s note: This log is based on information submitted to the media by Philomath Fire & Rescue:. • 11:25 a.m. — Firefighters responded to a report of a roadside fire along Highway 34. The Oregon Department of Forestry and Philomath Fire and Rescue Chief Chancy Ferguson handled the call. A Philomath brush truck that had been dispatched was canceled en route.

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Portland Pride celebrations had a stormy start Sunday, but the brief downpour wasn’t enough to rain on the parade. Thunderstorms sweep Portland, raising fire danger
Very loud thunder could be heard in Portland on Sunday morning but the worst of it is over, according to the National Weather Service in Portland. The weather service recorded hundreds of lightning strikes over northwest Oregon and southwest Washington through Sunday morning around 10:30 a.m., but the storm was expected to leave Portland by about 11 a.m., said Jon Liu, a meteorologist with the weather service in Portland.

After fatal drug overdose, Oregon State Hospital resumes limited in-person visits for patients
Oregon State Hospital will resume in-person visits for some patients on Monday after suspending them in May after a patient died of a suspected fentanyl overdose. Officials at the state-run psychiatric facility suspended in-person visits between patients and their family and friends so the hospital could retool its visiting policies, with an eye toward preventing visitors from passing drugs or other contraband on to patients. The hospital has nearly 700 patients between its main campus in Salem and a smaller satellite campus in Junction City.
