We have arrived at the doorstep of the weekend and we finish off another cool start to the day Most morning lows were in the 40s and 50s while some warmer urban areas were closer to 60. We will start to see temperatures move higher over the next few days though humidity will be much slower to rise. High pressure is overhead and moving offshore today. We will see mostly sunny skies. Most high temperatures today will be in the upper 70s to around 80 degrees. There are no issues regarding showers as the radars are going to be nice and quiet today and probably through most of the weekend.

A hurricane watch has been issued for part of Florida as a strengthening tropical system, soon to become Tropical Storm Debby, approaches the state over the weekend. Tropical Depression Four is forecast to strengthen while moving northward along the Florida Peninsula's Gulf coast this weekend, spreading rain, gusty winds and severe thunderstorms slowly northward. AccuWeather meteorologists warn that not only may the feature become a hurricane, but it may also later stall along the southeastern United States coast next week.

The cutoff low pressure system that made its north through New England Monday night into Tuesday morning. This combined with a very moisture-rich atmosphere and the slow moving nature of the system led to intense showers and storms surviving well into the overnight hours. Storm training, when multiple storms move over the same area, set up across northeast Vermont. This led to a rather extreme amount of rain to fall in a very short period of time. We'll go into more detail on the setup of this storm in a later post.

HONOLULU (AP) — Tropical Storm Hone was approaching the southern edges of Hawaii on Saturday with gusts of wind and heavy rain, potentially inflicting flooding and wind damage on the Big Island over the weekend and raising the risk of wildfires on the drier sides of the islands. The National Weather Service has issued a tropical storm warning for Hawaii County, which includes all of the Big Island, and a red flag warning for the leeward sides of all islands.  Hone, which means “sweet and soft” in Hawaiian, had top winds of 65 mph (105 kph) early Saturday. It will likely strengthen into a Category 1 hurricane as it passes near or south of the Big Island from Saturday night into early Sunday, according to the National Hurricane Center in Miami. The Hawaii Tourism Authority told travelers it’s still safe to come to the islands but recommended that people postpone outdoor activities.
