LAWTON, Okla. (KSWO) - Walking out the door we have more clouds on the horizon compared to this time yesterday. Rain is also on radar this morning but the activity is mostly along/ north of I-40. Today will be the last day of this triple digit stretch as the first cold front will move in tomorrow bringing cooler temperatures/ higher chances for rain. Heat indices across much of the area will be between 105 and 110 this afternoon which has prompted a heat advisory for almost all of the DMA. Southwest winds at 10 to 15mph.
One More Day of Heat Wave
The heat wave will last one more day before we get a break in the high temperatures. A heat advisory will be in effect for southeast Kansas, most of Oklahoma, southern Missouri and all of Arkansas today. The advisories start between 11 and 1 p.m. and will last until 8 p.m. Coffeyville is expected to see a high of 99 with a heat index up to 109 today.
