City of Albany drops speed limit to 25
The Albany Common Council has given the green light to lower the city speed limit from 30 to 25 miles an hour. The 11 members attending the Albany Common Council meeting voted unanimously Monday to reduce the speed limit on most city streets. The measure was sponsored by 14th ward Councilor Deb Zamer.

On Tuesday, July 2, 2024, the sheriff arrested 57-year-old James A. Cooke in the area of Robin St. and Orange St. for illegally possessing a loaded Ruger .40 caliber semi-automatic firearm which had also been reported stolen out of Charlotte, N.C.
