Cook Group's housing development in Spencer has reached a significant stage. Employees have begun moving in.

This development comes at a time when a serious housing crisis is affecting many people, especially those on lower to middle incomes, due to rising housing costs. Cook's initiative offers an affordable solution that benefits not just its employees but also the local community.

Molly Cunningham, an Indiana University graduate who used to rent in Bloomington, was one of the first to move in. The initiative is aimed at those earning $40,000 to $120,000, as they are often unable to afford a home. To date, 14 houses have been completed and seven have already been purchased by employees, including Cunningham. The homes, priced at $200,000, provide an affordable housing option for workers.

So someone starting at cook medical making $16/hr wouldn’t be able to afford a house... making $33,000 a yr... average raise is .40cents a yr... a $200,000 house is not affordable to most people, especially right now with interest rates so high... a lot of Cook employees were interested in buying a home but were unable to get financing... so they opened up purchasing a home there to the public! Pretty sad when your employer builds what they call affordable housing & most of their hourly employees can’t afford it!🤔🙄🤦🏻‍♀️

I'm sorry but...I don't see how someone making $40,000.00 annual income, can afford a $200,000.00 home. In my opinion, in today's world, $40,000.00 is low income, not middle class.
