Power outages after severe storms in NEPA
The cleanup work is underway from last night's band of heavy thunderstorms that knocked down trees and power lines in several parts of the area. Officials in Lackawanna County say a Carbondale man was struck by lightning through a window, and a downed tree knocked out power for many residents at Harvey's Lake. Many people are still without power, and PPL says that some areas may not have power fully restored until this afternoon or tonight.

CARBONDALE, LACKAWANNA CO. (WOLF) — A man was reportedly struck by lightning in Lackawanna County Monday night. Around 10 p.m., crews were called to a residence along Cranberry Ave. in Carbondale for a call of a man struck by lightning. The man's condition is unknown.

Pennsylvania man loses $90,000 over one year in gift card scam
LONGSWAMP TOWNSHIP, Pa. (WHTM)– Pennsylvania State Police say a man fell victim to a gift card scam for a year, losing thousands of dollars. State Police in Reading say they were investigating a theft by deception when an Alburtis man in his 70s reported a possible scam on July 1. Troopers say the man reported losing approximately $90,000 in Apple gift cards over the course of a year.
