Attention rowers and potential rowers ages 12-18: Club and Varsity Rowing starts Tuesday, September 3rd. Come experience this awesome sport. Our club rowing program is designed for rowers 12-18 who are learning to row, or rowers who prefer a more relaxed, noncompetitive schedule. The practices are three afternoons each week. The program’s focus is an introduction to rowing, building technique and endurance, and enjoying time on the water. There will be an attempt to provide a broad exposure to rowing in different size boats. The focus will be on sculling (one hand on each oar) with possible exposure to sweep rowing (two hands on one oar) as well.

2024 American Honey Princess to visit Maine
Lainey Bell, the 2024 American Honey Princess, will visit Viles Arboretum, 153 Hospital St., Augusta, on Sunday, Sept. 8. She will participate in the first Maine Bee Fest with the Maine State Beekeepers Association (MSBA), speaking to attendees about the importance of honeybees to Maine agriculture and how commercial beekeepers keep crops blooming. She will also share how honey varies in taste, textures, and types. Lainey will make appearances throughout the event and will give presentations to the attendees.
