Woman who police say jumped into Hopewell marina to evade arrest found a week later

HOPEWELL, Va. (WRIC) — A woman who police say jumped into the marina in Hopewell to evade arrest was taken into custody Tuesday, a week after her initial escape.

According to the Hopewell Police Department, 37-year-old Cassie Renee Boss of Hopewell initially fled police on Tuesday, July 16. She reportedly was wanted out of multiple jurisdictions. To evade arrest, police said Boss jumped into the marina.

Authorities, including Virginia State Police (VSP), extensively searched for Boss following her jumping into the marina. However, she could not be located, even with the assistance of a VSP helicopter.

A week later, on July 23, the department said it received information that Boss was on the 300 block of Woodbine Street. According to police, officers responded and found Boss there. After a brief foot chase, Boss was taken into custody for the following outstanding warrants:

• Felony distribution of Scheduled I/II
• Misdemeanor false identification to law enforcement
• Misdemeanor obstruction of justice
• Misdemeanor capias for failure to appear
• Felony capias for failure to appear

According to police, she is currently being held at Riverside Regional Jail without bond.
