    Voters of Tomorrow, a Generation Z/Millennial- led nonprofit organization that engages and represents young Americans in politics and government, in conjunction with the Hopkins County Democratic Party, will host a town hall meeting next week, featuring Democratic candidates for three state offices.

    The event, scheduled for 5 p.m. Wednesday, July 24 at the HW Gray’s Building at Pacific Park in Sulphur Springs, will feature the following candidates:

    „ Simon Cardell, a candidate for the United States House of Representatives Texas Fourth Congressional District, facing Republican incumbent Pat Fallon;

    „ Kristen Washington, a candidate for Texas House of Representatives District 2, facing Republican challenger Brent Money in November; and

    „ George King, a candidate for the State Board of Education District 12, facing incumbent Pam Little.

    Hopkins County is included in all three offices' areas.

    All three races will be on the ballot for Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 5.

    About the organization

    “Voters of Tomorrow has chapters in 20 states, and a volunteer presence in all 50. They take a locally based, multifaceted approach to engaging young voters. Their team is led by a national staff of young political strategists, organizers and policy experts.

    Being Gen Z-led is one of the organization’s greatest strengths. The Gen Z perspective goes into everything they do, from the strategies that guide their entire mobilization operation to each conversation they have on campus. To ensure they fully understand their diverse generation, they also conduct surveys to gauge their peers’ views on various topics. They then use these insights to guide our mobilization strategies and shape our legislative platform, the Gen Z Agenda.

    To that end, Voters of Tomorrow’s work doesn’t end on Election Day. Elected officials must hear from Gen Zers year-round.

    Last year, the team held a roundtable discussion with the House Rules Committee, as well as meetings with over 100 Congressional offices and The White House to talk about their policy priorities. Now, they’re building on these relationships by collaborating with lawmakers on legislation covering a range of topics,” a statement from Voters of Tomorrow’s chief of staff, Andrew Foster, read.
