Fearing missing fingers and firework-fried faces, doctors, nurses and EMTs are begging San Franciscans to celebrate the Fourth of July responsibly. While the holiday often means fireworks and revelry galore for some, it’s a busy day at local hospitals as emergency rooms flood with patients suffering from burns and severe trauma to eyes and hands—sometimes with fingers blown off—due to accidents with fireworks.

A vegetation fire, dubbed the Grade Fire, has ignited east of Hopland along State Route 175. Traffic is backing up and CDF has requested closure. The blaze started on the 8400 block of Highway 175 and according to the Incident Commander is one acre in size and threatening multiple structures. The fire is described as growing at a moderate rate of spread having a moderate potential to grow in size. Both air and ground firefighting resources are converging on the area.
