HORNELL, NY — Down early in Saturday's contest with the Hornell Steamers, the Oilers managed to cut the lead to one run in the top of the fourth inning when first baseman Chase Fischers cracked a solo home run.

But pitching troubles allowed the Steamers offense to explode in the bottom frame of the inning, scoring eight runs for an 11-2 lead on the way to a 12-2 win.

The fourth inning also had a scary moment when Oilers shortstop Joshua Wilson threw a wild ball to Fischer, causing him to stretch for the ball and collide with the Steamers base runner, right fielder Brody Langlotz.

Both players remained on the ground for five minutes before getting to their feet and hugging each other. Fischer left the game; Langlotz remained in the contest.

The Steamers added a run in the bottom of the seventh inning, ending the game with the 10-run mercy rule.

Starting pitcher Alec Greenblatt allowed five runs in the fourth and eight runs in total. Relief pitcher Matt Marsh allowed three runs in the fourth.
