    Where your kids can get free breakfasts/lunches this summer

    SOUTHERN TIER, N.Y. ( WETM ) — Summer is here and school is out for many districts in the Twin Tiers, despite that, several school districts will be hosting free breakfast and lunch programs to provide nutrition to children in the area.

    The USDA funds the Summer Food Service Program which is a way to fight child hunger by providing school breakfast and lunches to kids even when school isn’t in session.

    In July, several local school districts will serve meals to kids for several weeks. Starting July 8, locations across several counties will be holding breakfast and lunches. The locations are as follows:

    Bath

    • Dana Lyon Middle School at 25 Ellas Ave, July 8 to Aug.15, Monday through Friday. Breakfast from 7:45 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. and Lunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
    • Dorman Library, July 8 to Aug. 8, Monday to Thursday, Lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
    • Pro Action Youth Development Program at the lower level of St Thomas Episcopal Church, July 8 through Aug. 15, Monday through, lunch from 11 a.m. to noon.

    Hornell

    Free meals for kids and teens 18 and under will be held at more than half a dozen locations, with the times and addresses listed below:

    • Hornell YMCA at 718 Center St from July 8 to Aug. 15, Monday Through Friday with breakfast from 7:35 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. and lunch from 11 a.m. to noon.
    • North Hornell Elementary School at 2 Avondale Ave. from July 8 to Aug. 16, Monday through Friday with breakfast from 7:35 a.m. to 8:05 a.m. and lunch from 11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
    • Bryant Playground at 173 Terry St from July 8 to Aug. 16, Monday through Friday with lunch from 11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
    • Hornell Concern for Youth at 76 East Main St. from July 8 through Aug. 16, Monday through Friday with lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
    • Columbian Playground at 25 Pearl St. from July 8 through Aug. 16, Monday through Friday with lunch from 11:30 a.m. to noon.
    • Hillside Manor Playground at 29.5 Stephens St, from July 8 to Aug. 16. Monday through Friday with lunch From 11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
    • James St Park at 1 James St, from July 8 to Aug. 16, Monday through Friday with lunch from 11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
    • Hornell Public Library at 64 Genesee St. from July 8 to Aug. 16, Monday through Friday with lunch from 12:30 p.m. to 1 p.m.
    • Hornell High School at 134 Seneca Road from July 8 to Aug. 15, Monday through Friday with breakfast from 7:45 a.m. to 9 a.m. and lunch from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

    Chemung County Youth Bureau to celebrate 50 years of Summer Cohesion

    Canisteo-Greenwood, Campbell-Savona, Bradford, Jasper-Troupsburg

    Several other school districts in Steuben County are taking part in the summer lunches program, with four more locations listed:

    • Canisteo-Greenwood Elementary at 120 Greenwood St in Canisteo from July 8 through Aug. 16, Monday through Friday with breakfast from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. and Lunch from 11 a.m. to noon.
    • Bradford Central School District at 2820 state Route 336 in Bradford from July 5 through Aug. 11, Monday through Thursday with breakfast from 8 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. and lunch from 11:30 to 12:15 p.m.
    • Campbell-Savona Jr/Se High School at 8455 County Route 125 in Campbell from July 5 to Aug. 15, Monday through Thursday with breakfast from 7:30 a.m. to 8 a.m. and lunch from 11:20 a.m. to 12:10 p.m.
    • Jasper-Troupsburg Elementary School at 908 state Route 36 in Troupsburg from July 17 to Aug. 10, Monday through Thursday with breakfast from 8 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. and lunch from 11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.

    Elmira

    In the Elmira area, the Elmira City School District will be sponsoring several free breakfasts, lunches, and dinners during the summer, and those locations are listed below:

    • The Arc of Chemung/Schuyler will host meals at Katy Leary Park at 105 Connelly Ave in Elmira from July 8 to Aug. 15, Monday through Friday with lunch from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.
    • The Horseheads Family Resource Center will host meals at Thorne Street Park at 504 Thorne Street in Horseheads from July 8 to Aug. 16, Monday through Friday with lunch from noon to 1 p.m.
    • Catholic Charities & Partners will host meals at Blandford Park at 161 Judson St. in Elmira from July 8 to Aug. 16, Monday through Friday with lunch from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.
    • Elmira High School at 777 South Main St. in Elmira from July 8 to Aug 16., Monday through Friday with breakfast from 8 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. and lunch from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
    • Southside Community Center at 215 Partridge St in Elmira from July 8 to Aug 16., Monday through Friday with a snack from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. and dinner from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.
    • The Arc of Chemung/Schuyler will be hosting meals at Grove Park, 714 Grove St. in Elmira from July 8 to Aug. 16 with lunch from noon to 1 p.m.

    Waverly

    In Tioga County, the Waverly Central School District will be holding free lunches as part of its WARP Program, times and locations are listed below:

    • Elm Street Elementary at 145 Elm St. from July 8 to Aug. 8, Monday through Thursday with breakfast from 7:45 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. and lunch from 11 a.m. to noon.
    • East Waverly Park at 32 Ithaca St. from July 8 to Aug. 8, Fridays only, with breakfast from 8:30 a.m. to 9 a.m.
    • Lincoln Elementary at 45 Lincoln St from July 8 to Aug. 8, Monday through Friday with breakfast from 7:45 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. and lunch from 11 a.m. to noon.

    Anyone with questions regarding the Waverly events is asked to call 1-800-346-2211.

    No application is needed for any event, but all meals must be eaten onsite. Meal days and times are subject to change, so check with each district before arrival.

    Southern Tier school districts receive funds for improvement projects

    In Tioga County, Pennsylvania, school districts started serving meals for kids on June 17 and will continue to do so for several weeks. These locations in Tioga County will be holding grab and go meals for pick up. The locations are as follows:

    Blossburg

    In Blossburg, pick-up only packaged lunches will be available for kids and teens 18 and under in the Southern Tioga School District area during summer camp program days, times and location are listed below:

    • Blossburg Elementary School at 133 Hannibal St. on June 17 through June 20, June 25 and 26, July 2 and 3, July 9 and 10, July 16 and 17, July 23 and 24 from 11:45 a.m. to noon.

    Anyone with questions regarding the Blossburg event is asked to call 570-638-2183 ext. 315.

    Northern Tioga

    Free grab and go meals will be available for kids and teens 18 and under in the Northern Tioga School District, times and locations are listed below.

    • Tioga Firehall at Rarrick Dr., from June 17 to Aug. 9, Monday through Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to noon.
    • Millerton United Methodist Church at 5443 Main St., from June 17 to Aug. 9, Monday through Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to noon.
    • Jerome Park at 119 First St., from June 17 to Aug. 9, Monday through Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to noon.
    • Knoxville Community Center at 301 W Main St., from June 17 to Aug. 9, Monday through Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to noon.
    • Valley Christian Center at 146 Maple St., from June 17 to Aug. 9, Monday through Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to noon.
    • Calvary United Methodist Church at 6 Franklin St., from June 17 to Aug. 9, Monday through Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to noon.

    All locations will be closed on July 4. Anyone with questions regarding the Northern Tioga events is asked to call 814-258-5644.
