The Mayor’s Minute from Mayor Patrick Collins
I remember the Flood of 1985 very clearly. It was a horrible day for our city with the loss of so many lives and the destruction of property. Hail and over 6 inches of rain caused our creeks to flood, resulting in 12 fatalities and over $61 million in property damage. In our first goal setting session in 2021, City Council made it a goal to create a stormwater mitigation program to prepare our city for when it happens again. Wes Bay, our stormwater engineer, gave Council an update on the progress the Engineering Department has made to create a stormwater division to maintain our system and fund the improvements needed to protect our community. I appreciate the work our staff has done and the leadership provided by City Council.

Dirty Scotty’s Hats of Ill Repute opens
Scotty Flitner did not set out to be a milliner. She’s a bonafide cowgirl and sixth generation rancher, who studied art, then equine dentistry, and cowboyed the Idaho-Nevada border before returning to her home state of Wyoming. She’s also insatiably curious, loves learning and is always ready to meet a new challenge with a pragmatic, can-do, never-quit attitude. Following several years of independent study, apprentice work and a four-month intensive in Billings with Randy Rains of Law Dog Hat Company, Flitner’s own hat shop, Dirty Scotty’s Hats of Ill Repute, opened in downtown Greybull recently, taking over the Mackey’s Custom Hats business.

A lover of both Wyoming and art, Neltje’s experience while visiting Wyoming from her native New York in the 1960s, left her inspired and rejuvenated. It was this fire that Neltje wished to ignite in others which motivated her to create the Jentel Artist Residency.
