18 Sports Plays of the Week – 07/16

ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) – The 18 Sports Plays of the Week is back with more great highlights in local sports.

The 18 Sports team showcases the top plays from the past week in the Twin Tiers. This week’s top honors include 5 major plays on the diamond. Brennen McCullough kicks-off this week’s list, with his 3rd RBI-base hit, to help the Big Flats 10-12 All-Stars to a District 6 title.

In the PGCBL, Manuel Castro returns to Plays of the Week, this time on offense. Castro smashed an RBI stand-up triple, to help the Elmira Pioneers past Newark.

The rest of this week’s highlights belong to an outstanding matchup between the Horseheads Hitmen and Hornell Steamers. Elmira Notre Dame grad, Logan Meisner picked off a runner at 3rd, from behind the plate. In the same inning, Devin Mersmann crushed his 1st of 2 home runs for the Hornell Steamers. A half inning later, Haverling’s A.J. Brotz answered with a home run of his own, for Horseheads.
