ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) – You can be a part of local sports history this Friday in Horseheads.

The first-ever exhibit highlighting the great history of Horseheads Little League Baseball and other select sports will be displayed at The Horseheads Historical Society starting Friday night at 5 PM. The Horseheads Historical Society is located at 312 West Broad Street in The Village of Horseheads.

Fans and local supporters are welcome to attend for free. Appearing at the showcase will be legendary Horseheads softball pitcher Christina Kowalski. The standout at Horseheads went on to star at St. Joseph’s University on the mound and still holds several records at the school. Kowalski was also inducted into the St. Joseph’s Hall of Fame in 2010.

Christina is still the current record holder in St. Joseph’s history in career hits (253), RBI (173), at bats (178) and for complete games all-time with (88). Kowalski also threw the first perfect game in school history on April 3, 1999 in a 3-0 win vs. Rhode Island. The two-time all-conference selection will be a great addition for the special opening of the exhibit.

The display will be opened for the next few months at the Horseheads Historical Society. If you’d like to learn more about the Horseheads Historical Society please find them on Facebook or their website here: https://www.horseheadshistoricalsociety.com/
