HHS seniors awarded $647,064 in scholarships, awards

Houston High School graduated seniors could receive $647,064 in scholarships and other aid, school officials announced. Many of the financial awards were disclosed during graduation May 11.
PRESIDENT’S AWARD FOR EDUCATIONAL EXCELLENCE
Receiving the award were Miah Bressie, Addison Cook, Kayden Crawford, Anna Gale, Wyatt Hughes, Stone Jackson, Leighia Johnson, Aiden Kelly, Jillian Meier, Natalie Myrick, Caden Phillips, Kelsey Pritchett, Lilly Scheliga, Nikaylee Sheppard, Angelina Smith and Douglas Turpin.

Gale Wright Scholarship. This scholarship is being given in loving memory of Mr. Gale Wright, a former history teacher at Houston High School. (four awarded)

Houston Education Foundation Scholarship worth $2,000 (two awarded)

Emmett Kelly Fine Arts Scholarship worth $187.50 (two awarded)
Receiving the award were Addison Cook and Charlotte Fowler.
Justin Dixon Memorial Scholarship worth $250
Receiving the award were Jake Allen, Stone Jackson, Williem McConnell and Kierra Wiggs.
Connor Clifton Memorial Scholarship worth $1,500

Texas County Community Singers Vocal Music Scholarship worth $500 (two awarded)

Miah Bressie , awarded the Bonnie Carter Memorial Scholarship worth $500, the Virgil M. Hines award, the Washington University Scholarship worth $71,756 and is renewable, the Additional Washington University Scholarship worth $5,000 and is renewable, the Startup Grant-Bookstore Credit from Washington University worth $500, the Start Grant-Student Portion from Washington University worth $1,000, the Summer Earnings Replacement Grant from Washington University worth $1,550, the Federal Pell Grant worth $5,990 and is renewable, the Access Missouri Program Grant worth $2,850 and the Total Works Option from Washington University worth $2,500. She will attend Washington University in St. Louis.
Anna Gale , awarded the West Plains Bank Scholarship worth $2,000, the MSU-West Plains Board of Governors Scholarships worth $2,000 and the Elaine Russell Hollenbeck Scholarship worth $500. She will attend MSU-West Plains.
Kaitlynne Garnica , awarded the 4th Amendment Scholarship worth $1,000 and is alternate to the Don Tottingham Memorial Scholarship. She will attend Missouri State University in Springfield.

Stone Jackson , awarded the Peace Chapel Church Scholarship worth $500, the Don Tottingham Memorial Scholarship worth $500, the Dean’s Scholarship from MSU-West Plains worth $1,000, the Simmons Bank Scholarship worth $500, the S&R Insurance Scholarship worth $500 and the John and Naomi Montgomery Scholarship worth $5,000 and is renewable. He will attend MSU-West Plains.
Aiden Kelly , awarded the Shelter Insurance Foundation Agents Scholarship worth $1,500 and the Alumni Collins Scholarship worth $1,000. He will attend MSU-West Plains.
Raven Mitchell , awarded the Federal Pell Grant worth $7,395 and is renewable and the MoState Award which covers all other expenses that are not already covered by scholarships or grants. She will attend Missouri State University in Springfield.
Lilly Scheliga , awarded the Sheriff Carl D. Watson Memorial Scholarship worth $1,000, the Academic Merit Scholarship from Mizzou worth $10,000 and the Susan Garcia Scholarship worth $3,000. She will attend University of Missouri in Columbia.
Lee Skaggs , awarded the Curators Scholars Award from UMKC worth $5,000 and is renewable, the Federal Pell Grant worth $7,395 and is renewable, the Missouri Access Grant worth $2,850 and is renewable and qualifies for the Roo Advantage Scholarship which covers all other expenses that are not already covered by any other scholarships or grants. She will attend University of Missouri in Kansas City.
Roy Warner III , awarded the Freddie Hollenbeck Scholarship worth $500, the Alumni Class of 1964 Scholarship worth $500, the Texas County Farm Bureau Scholarship worth $500, the Primrose Casey Scholarship through Farm Bureau worth $250, a Midland University Shotgun Sports Scholarship worth $30,000 and is renewable and is alternate to the S&R Insurance Scholarship. He will attend Midland University in Fremont, Neb.
Gianna Westlund , awarded the Miss Missouri Organization Scholarship worth $700. She will attend Texas County Technical College in Houston.
Kierra Wiggs , awarded the Evangel University Heritage Award worth $10,000 and is renewable and the Missouri A+ recognition scholarship worth $1,000 and is renewable. She will attend Evangel University in Springfield.
Ian Young , awarded the Community Betterment Scholarship worth $500. He will attend MSU-West Plains.
