    Commission discusses storm damage, approves liquor license

    Members of the Texas County Commission handled several matters during meetings May 29 – 30.

    Members:

    • Approved a picnic liquor license for Jeff Gettys dba TCMH Healthcare Foundation 18th Annual Golf Tournament.
    • Attended a walk-through for a semi-final inspection of Camp Road Bridge.
    • Prepared the addendum and signed/returned the termination agreement for CPI Technologies.
    • Received a lawsuit filed relating to an inmate death.
    • Met with Bill Karatzas, county EMD; and Kent Edge, SEMA regional director; pertaining to storm damage within the county.
    • Received several calls about storm damage in the county.

    In other business, commissioners heard from:

    • Grant Wilson, U.S. Rep. Jason Smith’s office to discuss state and county situations.
    • David Scantlin, Jackson Township, to discuss FEMA reimbursement for the local townships. Scantlin is willing to coordinate and assist any townships with FEMA claims.
    • Bill Bridges, Texas County Memorial Hospital interim chief executive officer, concerning information from a recent board meeting.
    • Bill Wade, Sargent Township, concerning road issues.
    • George Sholtz concerning invitation to Texas County Memorial Hospital activities.
    • An area resident requesting roadsides to be sprayed. They were told to contact their township board and adjoining landowners for approval.
