    Commission investigates storm damage, makes personnel decisions

    Members of the Texas County Commission handled several matters during meetings June 5 – 6.

    Members:

    • Met with Bobby McCleod concerning IT services.
    • Met with Kent Edge, regional SEMA coordinator, and representatives from FEMA and SEMA to investigate storm damage to area roads. They visited multiple damaged roads/sites across the county to determine preliminary cost estimates for reimbursement.
    • Reviewed and acknowledged the “at will status” of Charles Butler is “no longer needed” effective May 31.
    • Reviewed and acknowledged the hirings of Trenton Shelton and William Kirn as full-time jailers effective June 3.

    In other business, commissioners heard from:

    • Collector Tammy Cantrell who discussed money received from the State of Missouri for Board of Prisoner bills. She requested a report from the circuit clerk’s office. She also informed the commission of the amount of delinquent taxes available for the August tax sale.
    • Prosecutor Parke Stevens who discussed email correspondence he is having with CPI Technologies.
    • Public Administrator Tina Garrett who informed the commission she will be taking some time off.
    • The maintenance department on repairs to the museum floor and roof.
    • David Scantlin concerning the FEMA/SEMA visit.
    • Madeline Miller to discuss the next Planning Commission meeting which will take place Aug. 12.
