A local community organization has launched a website as part of a $5,000 grant it recently won. The award from Community Foundation of the Ozarks to Downtown Houston Inc. will allow it to create a presence on the internet ( downtownhoustonmo.org ), develop marketing tools and create online giving platforms using text messaging and on the website to reach younger audiences.

The website highlights various projects that have been untaken over the years since the group’s formation in 1999 — the Melba Performing Arts Center, Lone Star Plaza, Lone Star Annex that houses University Extension and has a meeting room and community kitchen, Lone Star Farmers Market and the Houston Visitors Center — and information about how to use the facilities.

A slideshow of past projects also is included on the website that was recently launched.

Downtown Houston Inc. is a component of the Houston Community Foundation , which works to raise funds to offer scholarships and improvements in the town. Persons can learn more about the organization at Summer Fest in Houston on Saturday. The organization will have a booth near the Lone Star Plaza. A 50-50 raffle as a fundraiser is planned.
