On Monday, Jared Elmore and his wife, Jordan, of Republic, Missouri, removed signage from the former location of Elmore’s Men and Boys wear at Grand Avenue and Pine Street in downtown Houston.

Jared is the grandson of the late Wilburn Elmore, who worked in the clothing industry in Houston for 75 years and opened his own store at a different location on Grand Avenue in 1973 before moving it in 2004. Jared (who is a captain with Delta Airlines) said he plans to mount the signs in his shop building.

Wilburn died in 2022, and the location of his store is now occupied by The Corner (which offers frozen treats, coffee and more).
