    Commission acknowledges resignation, considers use of opioid funds

    Members of the Texas County Commission handled several matters during meetings Sept. 25 and 26.

    Members:

    • Reviewed a letter from the Missouri Department of Revenue indicating that the 0.5 county capital improvement tax will expire March 2026.
    • Commissioner Robert Ross attended an Ozark Action meeting held Tuesday, Sept. 24.
    • Reviewed and acknowledged an electronic notice resignation from Vera Copeland as a full-time jailer effective Sept. 23.
    • Heard that Collector/Treasurer Tammy Cantrell attended required training and received a certificate of training from the Missouri County Treasurer’s Association.
    • Reviewed premium rebate checks from United Healthcare Insurance pertaining to the Affordable Care Act.

    In other business, commissioners heard from:

    • Texas County Assessor Debbie James who discussed printer services in her office.
    • Sheriff Scott Lindsey who discussed records retention in his office.
    • Public Administrator Tina Garrett on phone issues in her office.
    • David Scantlin on Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) updates.
    • Kristie Miller, Houston Area Chamber of Commerce director, who requested help for an upcoming derby.
    • Ivan Schraeder, attorney, concerning prior IT services.
    • Janice Weddle and Kyle Wake, Missouri University Extension, who requested assistance through the opioid program with a Youth Program Associate (YPA) for Texas County to coordinate programs in county schools.
