Walking with water, dancing with Coon Creek: Art celebrating the Coon Creek Watershed on display this summer
COON VALLEY, Wis.– Over the last two years, 70 Coon Creek Watershed residents shared more than 60 hours of stories about the Coon Creek Watershed as part of the Coon Creek Community Watershed Council’s Learning to Make Running Water Walk Oral Narrative Project. Madison-based artist Gabrielle Whisler has listened to nearly all of them.
UPDATE: Victim in fatal Hwy. 29 crash identified
Police have identified the 63-year-old man who died last week in a crash east of Wausau as Keith C. Johnson, of Rhinelander. The single-vehicle crash happened at about 11 a.m. on July 25. Initial reports suggested two vehicles were involved in the crash, but the latest release from the Marathon County Sheriff’s Department specifies only one vehicle was involved.

ROCHESTER, Minn. — People calling from southern Minnesota could soon start popping up on your phone under a new area code. Final preparations are underway for the rollout of the new 924 area code, which will overlap with the current 507 area code serving southern Minnesota, including communities like Rochester, Austin, Mankato, Winona and Worthington. It will be the first such "area code overlay" in Minnesota; previous area code changes in the state involved carving out a new geographic region from a previous area code.
