The Texas County Library’s Summer Reading Program theme for 2024 is “Reading Is a Passport to Countless Adventures.”

Registration has closed, but kids can still attend activities in June and July. Look for the schedule on our website and Facebook.

Our Houston Librarian, Tiffany Davy, just finished reading a terrific book and highly recommends it. Here is her review.

“The Golden Spoon” by Jessa Maxwell.

This delicious combination of Clue and The Great British Bake Off kept me turning the pages all night!  At last, a baking show with a murder; cleverly constructed so we not only wonder who the murderer is, but who will be the victim.

A fantastically fun mystery with a perfect setting. It’s Knives Out meets Agatha Christie.

A deliciously entertaining whodunit; charming characters, baking mishaps, and a mouthwatering murder mystery.

New additions to the Houston shelves:

•Large Print – “Thrill of the Hunt” by Rita Mae Brown; “The Hidden One” by Linda Castillo

•Fiction – “Death Behind Every Door” by Heather Graham; “You Like it Darker” by Stephen King; “Long Time Gone” by Charlie Donlea; and “One Perfect Couple” by Ruth Ware.

The Summersville Library’s 10th annual Cowboy Roundup is planned for Saturday, June 8, from 10 a.m. to noon.  All-things-cowboy activities plus free lunch for cowboys and cowgirls of all ages is planned, compliments of the Texas County Library and Summersville Friends of the Library.
