Two persons were injured Saturday night in an accident near Highways AA and 17 about seven miles north of Houston, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said. One person faces charges.

Tpr. Chad K. Johnson said a northbound 2022 Nissan Sentra driven by Amanda N. Sandusky Esparza, 35, of St. Robert, and southbound 2017 Chevrolet pickup operated by Donald L. Kinder, 58, of Bucyrus, both crossed the centerline at 7:40 p.m. and struck head-on. The truck also was towing another unit.

Esparza, who was not wearing a seat belt, was flown with serious injuries to Mercy Hospital in Springfield. A passenger, a juvenile girl whose age was not listed and was wearing a seat belt, was taken with minor injuries to Texas County Memorial Hospital by ambulance.

Kinder, who was wearing a seat belt, was arrested on charges of DWI with serious physical injury and taken to the Texas County Jail.

Several agencies assisted on the scene, including Roby Fire Department, Houston Rural Fire Department and Texas County Sheriff’s Department. The road was blocked for a time after the accident.
