Looks like the really hot weather is here now, and the library is a great place to come cool off.

We have plenty of new books for all ages to check out as well as DVDs and the use of computers.

Yes, that IS a life-size poster of Ms. Dolly Parton in the children’s section! It’s to let everyone know that her Imagination Library is now being sponsored in Missouri, and every child in the state can receive a free book every month from birth until their fifth birthday!

Stop by any Texas County Library branch or go online to imaginationlibrary.com to enroll a child. “You can never get enough books into the hands of enough children.” – Dolly Parton

Extra activities are coming up in July for all ages. All branch schedules will be posted on our website and Facebook.

Here is the schedule for the Houston branch:

•Thursday, July 18 at 10 a.m. – United States Bingo with Ms. Louise

    •Thursday, July 25 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. – Adventure Creating with LEGO & STEM Kits.

•Monday, July 29 at 1:30 p.m. – Foreign Language Fun with Mr. Del.

New additions to the Houston shelves: “Flop Dead Gorgeous” by David Rosenfelt, “An American in Scotland” by Lucy Connelly, “The House of Pines” by Anna Reyes, and “The Private Life of Spies and The Exquisite Art of Getting Even” by Alexander McCall Smith.

Thank you to our librarians, Del in Houston and Amy in Cabool, for highlighting different authors.  Check out their displays and you may find a great “new to you” author and titles to read!

Fishing poles and tackle boxes are available at all Texas County Library branches for check out, courtesy of the Missouri Department of Conservation. Also at our Licking branch, you can check out birdwatching backpacks courtesy of the Rolla Ornithological Society in memory of Doc Hatch.

The Texas County Library has e-Books and audio books available to download. To view the catalog and download, go to our website, texascountylibrary.lib.mo.us , click on “e-books,” or come by the library for assistance. Texas County Library cards are required.
