    Houston MO man arrested for stealing and then selling equipment, police say

    HOUSTON, Mo. — A man from Houston has been arrested for allegedly stealing farm equipment and then was caught trying to sell the stolen goods on Facebook.

    According to a press release from the Texas County Sheriff’s Office, Shaun C. Cross, age 32, of Houston, Missouri, was arrested pending two counts of allegedly receiving stolen property and one count of attempting to receive stolen property.

    On July 17, 2024, Texas County deputies were dispatched to a report of farm equipment having been stolen on Brushy Creek Road in Houston.

    The victim told police he found a Facebook Marketplace ad showing their stolen equipment.

    Deputies staged a meeting with the seller, Cross—who was using a fake name on Facebook. Cross was arrested and was found to have a large amount of cash and a handwritten bill of sale with the fake Facebook name on it.

    Deputies were able to find the stolen equipment.

    Cross is being held in the Texas County Jail pending a $10,000 cash-only bond.
