The following are excerpts from just some of the reports recently generated by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department :

    • On July 19, a deputy was dispatched regarding a disturbance at a Horseshoe Drive residence in Houston.

The officer made contact with a 35-year-old woman there who was visibly shaken and said she had been in her car in the driveway recording video when a man approached and started recording her as well. She told the deputy she was on the opposite side of a locked gate and was not speaking to the man.

She said the man, 41, of Houston, then unlocked the gate and slammed it hard into her car and attempted to grab her through the window. She then drove away and waited at the end of the driveway until law enforcement arrived.

The officer went to the man’s residence and spoke to him, and he admitted to slamming the gate into the woman’s vehicle. He was arrested and taken to jail, and a probable cause statement was sent to the county prosecutor.

    • On July 17, a 57-year-old man reported that a 1999 Honda Shadow Aero 1,100cc motorcycle valued at $3,500 had been stolen from his Pigeon Creek Road residence in the Licking area.

An investigating officer observed video depicting two men loading the bike onto a trailer attached to a white truck at about 11:30 a.m. July 17. Investigation is ongoing.

    • A deputy was dispatched July 10 regarding a report of a possible break-in at a Highway 32 residence at Licking.

The officer made contact with a 61-year-old man there who said he walked onto his back porch and noticed a storm window was open and a ladder had been thrown down the stairs next to the window. The man told the officer his garage door had been damaged, but he didn’t believe anything had been stolen.

The officer asked who might be to blame, and the man named another man due to a feud they had been having due to other investigations.

    Investigation is ongoing.

    • On June 30, a 62-year-old Houston man reported that a building he owned on Highway 137 had burned down the previous night.

The man told an investigating deputy that he believed the fire had been deliberately set and named a 70-year-old woman who lives on the property as a suspect. The officer made contact with the woman, and she denied setting the fire, saying she saw lights outside and her dogs began making noise, and she then observed the fire and called the man who owns the property.

The value of the building was reportedly $35,000. Investigation is ongoing.
