NFL Changes Kickoffs, Cal McNair Is Texans' Owner, Espada Gives JV Update

Stan Norfleet and Chris Gordy of Next Up review the NFL owners approving changes to the kickoff format. The new alignment rules originated in the XFL and are designed to reverse declining return rates and decrease concussions.

NFL owners at the annual league meeting also approved making Houston Texans chairman and CEO Cal McNair the new principal owner of the franchise. Janice McNair became the Texans' owner after her husband, Bob McNair, passed away in November 2018. Cal's approval follows a dropped lawsuit last month by Robert Cary McNair Jr. who attempted to have Janice declared incapacitated and have a guardian appointed.
