Lost dog given fitting nickname reunited with Texas trucker in Oklahoma. ‘Tear jerker’

A dog named Nacho was reunited with his owner, who was spotted outside a Walmart in Oklahoma looking for his companion.

But when the owner — a truck driver from Houston —was looking for his dog, the lost furry friend had already been taken to the Purcell Animal Shelter, the organization said in a June 19 post.

The dog, as the shelter later came to find out, was named Nacho. But due to the circumstances that led to him arriving to the shelter, he was given the nickname Trucker.

Animal shelter workers sought the identity of Trucker’s owner, only knowing what he looked like and that he was driving a “white semi sleeper cab with a trailer hauling some type of pipe.”

Trucker — well, Nacho — was finally reunited with his family June 25, the shelter said.

“(Nacho’s) family, who was told the lady who found him was going to keep him, never thought they would see him again,” the shelter said. “So the reunion was a tear jerker, and we couldn’t be happier that these 2 were united.”

The animal shelter thanked the truck driving community for its help in spreading the word about the lost dog.

Purcell is about a 35-mile drive southeast from Oklahoma City and is a far cry from the owner’s hometown of Houston — more than a 400-mile drive.
