    AT&T outage leaves thousands without service amid Hurricane Beryl's landfall

    AT&T is grappling with widespread service disruptions , affecting hundreds of customers, predominantly in Texas .

    The outages have hit several major cities including Houston, Dallas, Austin, Chicago , Oklahoma City, Atlanta, San Antonio, Reedly, and Los Angeles .

    Reports indicate that approximately 40 percent of the affected customers are experiencing internet or landline issues, while a similar percentage are facing problems with their cell phones .

    Social media platforms, particularly AT&T's X account, are awash with customer pleas for assistance and swift service recovery, prompting the company's social media representatives to urgently gather information from those affected.

    According to local radio station KTRH, "Network Disaster Response Teams have been deployed, along with technicians, and supporting equipment strategically staged in several Southeast Texas cities. Once it's safe, our teams will begin assessing the damage and will work to ensure customers are connected asap."

    Businesses have also voiced their concerns on DownDetector.com, lamenting server outages that have left them unable to conduct their operations. Additional complaints include a complete lack of access to mobile internet services on cell phones.

    Compounding the situation, Houston and Austin are currently enduring the onslaught of Hurricane Beryl, which has already deprived roughly 2 million Texans of electrical power, with some also losing cell phone connectivity.

    Twitter was abuzz with disgruntled AT&T customers voicing their frustrations: "Every time there is a weather crisis, AT&T fails me. I shouldn't have to keep turning my phone on and off and on airplane mode to get service," one irate user wrote.

    Another tweeted desperately for an update: "Any update on what's happening with cellular service in Houston, Texas?? SOS all day". Service disruptions were confirmed by yet another customer, who said: "Service KO'd in Houston."

    AT&T told The Mirror: "AT&T Network Disaster Response Teams have been deployed, along with generators, technicians, and supporting equipment strategically staged in several Southeast Texas cities. Additional resources are on standby in the Dallas area warehouse, ready to deploy if needed. Currently, we are seeing impacts to our cell and landline service."

    The company provided reassurance that restoration work would commence as soon as conditions permitted.

    "Once it is safe, our teams will begin assessing the damage and will work to ensure customers are connected as soon as possible. Our Weather Operations Center continues to monitor the storm closely, providing ongoing guidance to our teams in the path and in recovery areas," they said.

    An afternoon update is pending, while ongoing updates can be accessed on AT&T's website regarding Hurricane Beryl preparations.

    Amidst Hurricane Beryl's onslaught on Texas , Centerpoint Energy has reported widespread power outages, affecting millions of coastal residents and others in several regions.

    Hurricane Beryl, a Category 1 storm, made landfall in Texas early Monday morning, wreaking havoc on Houston with heavy rains and powerful winds. The storm caused power outages for nearly 2 million homes and businesses in the Greater Houston area, as rising waters led to street flooding and rescue operations.

    The company confirmed via X: "Hurricane Beryl continues to move across the Greater Houston area with heavy rain and strong winds, resulting in power outages. As of 8.30 am more than 1.5 million customers are without power.

    By 11am EST, the number of affected customers had risen to nearly 2 million. For those trapped in the storm, local officials have published evacuation route maps.
