    Houston is under a heat advisory. Here are some available cooling centers to escape the heat

    As Hurricane Beryl left millions of Houstonians without power , the region is under a heat advisory on Tuesday. Temperatures reaching the low 90s will continue throughout the week. The heat index, or how the temps feel when combined with humidity, is expected to be up to 106 degrees.

    The hot temperatures combined with high humidity creates a dangerous situation for many Houstonians, including those without air conditioning. Older adults and infants are especially vulnerable in the heat.

    Some general heat tips include drinking plenty of water, wearing loose and light-colored clothing, and wearing hats and sunscreen.

    Symptoms of heat-related illness include dizziness, confusion, nausea, excessive sweating and even unconsciousness. If a life-threatening emergency happens, call 911.
