HOUSTON (SportsRadio 610)- Astros slugger Yordan Alvarez was forced to leave Wednesday's game against the Miami Marlins due to right hip soreness, the team announced.

Starting as the Astros designated hitter, Alvarez was lifted for pinch hitter Trey Cabbage in the fourth inning with the Astros leading 6-0. He was examined by manager Joe Espada and a trainer after a second inning RBI single, but remained in the game to run the bases.

"The hip is a little bit tight," Astros manager Joe Espada said after the Astros beat the Marlins 9-1. "I just talked to him a little bit, so hopefully it's nothing that will linger for a long time."

Alvarez was tested while running the bases in the first inning. He stole second after working a walk and was thrown out trying to score on a Yainer Diaz single.

Alvarez was named a starter to next week's All-Star Game, and leads the team with 51 RBI. He missed Sunday's game after getting hit on the right knee Saturday in Minneapolis.
