Federal, state and local agents accomplished what is believed to be Mississippi’s largest seizure of methamphetamine after a months-long investigation.

On July 7, 2024, a collaborative operation involving multiple law enforcement agencies culminated in a major breakthrough against an interstate Drug Trafficking Organization (DTO) operating out of Dallas and Houston, Texas.

Investigators from the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Hattiesburg Post of Duty (HPOD), DEA Gulfport Resident Office (GRO), Hattiesburg Police Department (HPD), Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics (MBN), Hancock County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO), Waveland Police Department (WPD), and Bay St. Louis Police Department (BSLPD) executed a meticulous surveillance and traffic-stop operation following an extensive HPOD investigation.

The concerted efforts of these agencies resulted in the arrest of three individuals and the seizure of approximately 121 kilograms of methamphetamine. This haul is believed to be the largest methamphetamine seizure to date solely destined for the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

The months-long investigation by HPOD, supported by the other participating agencies, focused on dismantling the DTO’s operations, which spanned multiple states. The successful operation highlights the importance of interagency cooperation in tackling large-scale drug trafficking and underscores the ongoing commitment to keeping communities safe from the scourge of illegal narcotics.

Further details about the arrested individuals and the precise nature of the charges they face have yet to be released, as the investigation continues. The record seizure marks a significant milestone in the fight against drug trafficking in the region, signaling a strong message to those involved in the illicit drug trade.
