Australian forward Jack McVeigh has agreed to a two-way contract with the Houston Rockets, according to ESPN’s Olgun Uluc .

McVeigh joins Nate Williams and undrafted Oregon center N’Faly Dante as the current recipients of Houston’s three two-way contracts . However, Nate Hinton and Jermaine Samuels Jr. — currently on Exhibit 10 training camp contracts while playing for Houston’s summer-league team — are also reportedly candidates to eventually be upgraded to two-way deals , which they played on last season.

Some of these deals could be made with an eye on obtaining the NBA G League rights to potentially play for Houston’s developmental affiliate club, the Rio Grande Valley (RGV) Vipers.

Here’s how Uluc describes McVeigh as a player:

Over the 2023-24 NBL season, McVeigh averaged 16.5 points and 5.4 rebounds per game for the JackJumpers, shooting 52.5% from the field and 36.4% from beyond the arc (4.6 attempts per game). McVeigh is a rangy forward who can effectively score at all three levels, and particularly excels as a 3-point shooter.

A 6-foot-8 forward, McVeigh led the Tasmania JackJumpers to the 2024 championship of Australia’s National Basketball League (NBL) and earned MVP honors in the championship series.

Now 28 years old, McVeigh is expected to feature later this month for Team Australia at the 2024 Paris Olympics, where he will be teammates with current Rockets center Jock Landale.
