Our hearts go out to everyone across Texas impactedbyHurricane Beryl. At GoFundMe, we are working around the clock to help ensure the community receives the support they need. To make it easier for people who want to help those affected, GoFundMe has launched a centralized hub housing all verified fundraisers related to Hurricane Beryl. Our Trust & Safety team will continue to update the hub with more fundraisers as they are verified.

Here are a few of the latest verified GoFundMes to help Texans who have been affected. These and others can be found on the Hurricane Beryl Relief Hub:

Funeral Expenses for Richie Ross: “Richie Ross, a loving son, uncle, brother, and friend, passed away suddenly on July 8th. At the age of 40, Richie passed away doing what he enjoyed most, helping the community. As Richie was moving tree debris off the roadways from the recent 'Beryl' storm, a large tree toppled from the wind landing on the tractor and himself. He leaves behind his loving and caring mother, siblings, nieces and nephews, and friends.”

Support for Jose's Family After Tragic Loss…Maria Loredo: “This tragedy has taken them by surprise. Their story has been shared on different news channels. Hurricane Beryl not only took the life of Mrs. Loredo, but it also destroyed their home. Whatever you can give will go towards their recovery and funeral expenses”

Help Johnnie Rebuild After Tragedy: Johnnie Herron was mourning the loss of her husband, firefighter Matt Herron, when she lost her home just 48 hours after his death. “I am raising money for my aunt Johnnie who recently lost her husband of 33 years unexpectedly and then less than 48 hours later lost her house and some of her animals. If you know these two, you know they have love for anyone and anything. Johnnie is already working multiple jobs as is to make ends meet, and volunteering at her local firehouse. Hurricane Beryl came through and took the last bit of what she had left of the house she and Matt built.”

    • Help Phyllis Yankey After Hurricane Beryl Destroyed Her Home: “This morning (7/8/24), as Hurricane Beryl ripped through her neighborhood in Conroe, Texas, a tree fell and destroyed her home. Thankfully, she is safe and was away visiting my sister in Kentucky during the storm. Because of some now heartbreaking issues with the insurance companies, her home was not covered and she will receive no reimbursement, making the home a total loss. Her life savings have now been destroyed. She has lost everything and won’t be able to recover from this event financially without our help.”

    • Start a certified charity fundraiser for a verified organization providing critical support to those affected.

Protecting the Go-FundMe Community At GoFundMe, being a safe and trusted place to give and receive help is our top priority. To help keep the platform safe, donations are processed by our payment partners, held, and then released only to the person named as the recipient of the funds (the beneficiary). Before funds are transferred to the beneficiary, their personal information must be verified. If any questions arise, our processors will hold the funds until the recipient is verified. We have a team of experts working around the clock to review fundraisers and prevent misuse. During humanitarian disasters and other crises, our team proactively monitors and verifies fundraisers so the communities impacted can receive the quick and trusted support they need. For a fundraiser to be considered verified, it must go through an enhanced due diligence review process. This process includes both a robust human review from our worldclass Trust & Safety experts as well as technical tools designed to catch misuse.

GoFundMe also has the first and only donor protection guarantee in the crowdfunding industry. Through the GoFund-Me Giving Guarantee, we guarantee donors a full refund in the rare case something isn’t right. You can learn more about our Trust & Safety practices on our safety hub, as well as find tips that can be shared with your audiences.
