Rapper Megan Thee Stallion is using her “Hot Girl Summer” powers for good, as she partners with Bread of Life Inc. in Houston to offer free generators to senior citizens in the area according to Houston outlet KHOU11 . Hurricane Beryl left nearly 3 million people in Texas without electricity earlier this month, causing many vulnerable people to lose access to air conditioning. The rapper called on her Pete & Thomas Foundation, which “catalyzes resources for women, children, senior citizens, and underserved communities,” according to its Instagram page, to team up with the local org for the effort—which is much needed. At least six people between the ages of 50 and 78 have perished by hyperthermia as a result of the power outage and sweltering temperatures. “It’s been painful to watch the elderly population in Houston suffer without electricity during these devastating storms,” Megan Thee Stallion said in a statement to the outlet, “We need to do our part to provide our elders with the best resources possible to withstand future emergencies.”
