On Thursday, August 1 the Houston Texans will be kicking off the 2024 NFL preseason schedule against the Chicago Bears at the annual Pro Football Hall of Fame game in Canton, Ohio. Two days later one of the greatest players in franchise history will be officially inducted into the Hall of Fame, and he's been granted a special honor during the ceremony.

After fellow inductees Dwight Freeney, Steve McMichael, Randy Gradishar, Devin Hester, Patrick Willis and Julius Peppers get their turns to speak, former Texans wide receiver Andre Johnson will close out the ceremony with his own speech.

Johnson was taken in the first round of the draft by Houston (No. 3 overall) in the 2003 draft class.

Dre went on to play 169 games for the Texans over the next 12 years, totaling over 1,000 catches, 13,597 receiving yards and 64 touchdowns. During that run he made seven Pro Bowl teams and earned two first-team All-Pro honors. After a year with the Colts and another with the Titans he retired at the end of the 2016 season.
