NFL superstar says he considered signing with the Texans in free agency

The Texans will begin their preseason campaign in just a couple of days in the Hall of Fame game against the Bears. Thus will end what has been a very busy offseason for general manager Nick Caserio and the front office.

Arguably no other team around the NFL was more active upgrading their roster since the end of last season, setting them up for a potential Super Bowl run in 2024. Yesterday we learned of another huge move that almost went down for Houston.

According to Buccaneers superstar wide receiver Mike Evans, he considered signing with the Texans and the Chiefs before deciding to stay in Tampa in free agency.

It would have been quite a get to sign Evans, but it turned out more than ok in the end for Houston. A few weeks later they wound up trading a 2025 second-round pick to the Bills for Stefon Diggs.

Missing out on Evans and landing Diggs is basically a wash. Both receivers are 30 years old and arguably the two most-consistent producers at their position, putting up over 1,000 yards every season like clockwork. Evans may not come with the diva reputation that Diggs does , but so far that has proven to be overblown, if not total nonsense.

Moving into the 2024 season, Diggs is the number one receiver on Houston's depth chart, followed by Nico Collins and Tank Dell. ESPN has this unit ranked as the best in the NFL this year.
