Dynamic new NFL kickoffs add spice to first half of Hall of Fame game

The Pro Football Hall of Fame game is generally the least watchable NFL game of the year. However, this year there's a little something extra to give casual fans a reason to check in. Tonight the Houston Texans and the Chicago Bears have become the first two NFL teams to participate in the dynamic new kickoff rules.

Here's a look at the very first ever in NFL history:

Fans don't seem to be loving it on social media, but if nothing else, it's more interesting than the usual parade of touchbacks that we've become accustomed to in NFL games.

The new rules have opened up new possiblities, and we've already seen some big hits and weird quirks, including a legal 12th-man on the field for the Bears to hold the ball when the wind wasn't cooperating. After the kick, he had to immediately scramble off the field.

The Texans lead 10-7 late in the first half, mostly courtesy of a feisty performance by backup quarterback Davis Mills. He's 10/13 for 102 yards and a touchdown with a 124.5 passer rating.

It appears his night may be over already though, as Case Keenum has come in with a couple minutes remaining in the second quarter.
