Report: Former Cowboys, Panthers OL Cameron Erving signing with Houston Texans

The Houston Texans are reportedly signing former Cowboys and Panthers offensive lineman Cameron Erving .

KPRC-TV in Houston reported the signing Saturday morning , citing a league source.

Cameron Erving is entering his 10th season in the NFL after being drafted by the Cleveland Browns in the first round of the 2015 NFL Draft.

Erving has played for the Browns, Chiefs, Cowboys, Panthers and most recently Saints during his career.

Prior to beginning his NFL career, Cameron Erving played college football at Florida State . He was an All-American for the Seminoles and helped FSU to a national title.

The Georgia native won a Super Bowl during his time with the Chiefs as Kansas City beat the San Francisco 49ers 31-20.

Erving is joining a Texans team that is on the rise. Houston was the surprise winner of the AFC South in 2023 thanks in large part to a strong season from rookie quarterback CJ Stroud .

The Texans not only won their division but also beat the Browns in the playoffs, before falling to the Ravens in the Divisional Round.

Erving is hoping to help protect Stroud this season as Houston looks to return to the playoffs and perhaps make even more noise once they get there in 2024.

The Texans were one of the surprise teams in the NFL last season, but they won’t be sneaking up on anyone this year.

Houston will have everyone’s full attention after what Stroud and his teammates did during his rookie season.

Stroud recently spoke about how his time at Ohio State prepared him for what he will experience this year with the Texans.

“It’s not going to be easy,” he said . “It’s going to be harder. We have a target on our back this year. That’s how you should want it and that’s what I’m used to, playing at Ohio State. I’m really honored and blessed to have the teammates that I do to want that challenge and for guys to want to come and play here.

“This Texans team isn’t for everybody. It’s hard here and we’re blessed enough to play a game that we’ve been playing since we were kids. I definitely do think that all the expectations, we just work, everything will take care of itself. The story is already written.”

While things might be more difficult for the Texans in 2024, Stroud doesn’t lack confidence and is ready to lead Houston to another strong season.
