Inspectors general from Baltimore city and county offer support for proposed Howard office
Howard County community members voiced support and critiques Monday night for the proposed establishment of an Office of the Inspector General. The office, which council member Liz Walsh proposed this month, would “uncover and address instances of waste, fraud and abuse” in organizations that receive county funding. Walsh proposed the office with advice and inspiration from Inspectors General Isabel Mercedes Cumming, of Baltimore City, and Kelly Madigan, of Baltimore County. Cumming and Madigan testified in support of the proposed office at Monday’s hearing, alongside former Howard County Executive Allan Kittleman and about 10 community members.

BALTIMORE -- Howard County Executive Calvin Ball last week announced the launch of the county's first Early Head Start program to expand early childhood education opportunities.
