KDWP to offer special hunting access this fall, winter through free draw
PRATT – Exclusive access to land not normally open to hunting and above-average success rates might sound like an expensive hunting lease, but it’s not. The Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks’ (KDWP) Special Hunts program provides hundreds of such hunts each fall and winter at no charge – all you have to do is apply and be selected.

Etheridge, who lost her son Beckett Cypher to opioids, connects with five from the facility and learns about their respective journeys including how they’ve battled addiction, generational trauma, and grief. The project also delves into how they’re healing and are working to find redemption while incarcerated.

Trial postponed in wreck that killed 3 girls
TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - The trial is delayed for a woman charged in a wreck that killed three young girls. Jury selection was to get underway July 8, 2024 in proceedings for Amber Peery. However, Shawnee Co. District Court records show it’s now pushed back to August 12th. An entry states the trial was continued “for good cause.” It is set to last five days.

Lawrence school board to consider increasing meal prices, some student fees
The Lawrence school board on Monday will consider approving a 10-cent increase to lunch and breakfast prices in addition to some student fee increases for the 2024-25 year. Currently, lunch rates for elementary, middle and high school students who are not in the free and reduced-price lunch program are $2.90, $3.10 and $3.15, according to the agenda item. If the proposal is approved, those would increase by 10 cents to $3 for elementary, $3.20 for middle and $3.25 for high schools.
